Project Background
OMS Group, LLC. staff were engaged by a large polystyrene manufacturer to identify opportunities to reclassify polystyrene manufacturing facility hazardous waste streams as feedstock for reuse at other polystyrene manufacturing facilities.
Scope
OMS' team of regulatory experts reviewed applicable federal regulations and guidance letters from USEPA for exclusion of hazardous waste as recyclable material. OMS' team of experts and our counsel assessed the federal guidance against California regulations promulgated by Department Toxic Substance Control (DTSC) and identified specific regulatory exclusions and provisions for reuse of regulated hazardous materials. OMS staff also assessed these requirements against state and federal rules and regulations for transport of materials offsite and in interstate commerce.
